Default What a way to start the day!!

Today I seen something I have never seen before. I was a sleep in bed when the phone rings and my wife is on the other end and says " my tire just divorced itself from the rim". Now being half a sleep this makes no sense to me but I am assuming she has a flat. So I grab my jack and tools and head off to save the day. But when I arrive this is what I find

This was one of our newer Triple tread tires that well I guess didn't want to play anymore so It committed suicide It is perfectly seperated all the way around. Nice.

Hard to tell from the picture but looks like something that might be covered under the road hazard or manufacturers defect warranty.

When you get a flat and drive on it, that happens.

It was not flat before it seperated. If you look at the picture you can see where the tires appears to be cut all the way around.

What he said. You can see the groove where the rim rubbed through the tire.

I usually see that happen to the trailer tires but this is the first on a car.

I noticed that on my cruiser driving it around town a near flat tire doesn't really show up in how the car drives....Grandaughter brought mine back with < 10 psi. , said She didn't notice it driving funny, She usally drives a Cobra Roadster Replica and autocrosses quite a bit so She knows what's not right. I drove it around the block and agreed..This air pressure was low enough to expect a rim cut like in picture..
