Default New to Forum

Bought a PT the beginning of the summer this year. '04 base with a manual trans--one of the most fun and useful cars I've owned. Been reading the forums since for the great tips and how-to's. Finally got around to joining and wanted to say thanks to all contributors. Makes owning a PT a lot more fun when I can read about all of your experiences and advice before I dive into repairs or mods. Thanks!!!

Welcome.
Good deal with the manual - better mileage and performance and fewer worries!
My wife refuse to learn stick.

Thanks guys.

Quicksilverdon, my wife can't drive a stick either -- but that means I don't have to share my PT! Thankfully, she was pretty understanding about my insistence on the stick -- as long as I agreed never to park her in and to give her the newer VW I was driving before the PT. Now we're both happy. Would have liked to get the turbo engine you have too, but I guess you can't have everything.

Thanks to the great info on the forums it's already running better than when I bought it. Next step for me is to make my bone stock PT my own -- getting lots of ideas for that from all the forums I can't stop reading....

Welcome to the site also......What kind of VW did you give up? My wife let me buy my PT back in July only if she also got a different car too. I got the 2001 LE, what I've been wanting, and she got on the same day from the same lot a 2001 VW Beetle. But she got the TURBO and I didn't OH WELLstill love my PT anyway. Best of luck and see you in the posts.

Alice loves to go thru the gears in our old vintage sportscars on these twisty roads , I guess that is why I kept her around for the last 41 years , Good Old Gal...

We have some VW's , 58 and 74 Karmann Ghia's , but nothing will take over their stalls....

Thanks for the welcome, everybody.

Hooligan -- thanks for the warning, but it's too late! Swapped the shift linkage bushings for poly ones for better feel and upgraded plugs and wires -- and in the process of figuring out how to do that discovered these forums. Now thinking of changing wheels, tires, exhaust... and so it begins.

Twress -- I gave her my '07 Rabbit coupe. She always wanted a new beetle (they're cute), but I bought the Rabbit a couple of years ago (before we got married) because it gives us more interior room as a hatch -- and thinking she'd probably like it too. As it turns out, she really loved it, so now it's hers. After living with only two-door cars for a while we decided we needed a four-door with a little more room for cargo. With a little work I convinced her that the practical car we needed was a PT, not a Passat wagon. Sold her on the practicality but I really wanted it for the fun factor!

edsidders, I'm a fan of old VW's too -- but don't have any at the moment. Thirty years ago my parents drove a Type 2 pop-up camper (orange). Since then I've always like the air-cooled vw's. Those Karmann's are great too -- glad to hear you're keeping a couple around.
