Default Turbo, 5 speed or Autostick

Hello;

Just wanted to get some input. I am looking at purchasing an 03-05 GT Turbo...

Any input on the Autostick VS the 5 speed would be great...

Thanks

Brett

The auto tranny is a weak link, especially with the turbo power. I'd go 5 speed. If you decide to go auto tranny then never boost in overdrive.

The manual has better performance, gets better mileage, and is more trouble-free.

I'd better pray and cross my fingers then, because I still love it.

How much stress does it take to do the AS in? Does failure bring a horrendously high repair charge?

As noted, if you're going to punch it, drop to third.
You should have tranny flushed (not just pand drop, needs a machine) and filled with ATF + 4 ONLY, every 50,000 miles.

50k is straight out of the book and too long to wait. I lost the auto tranny on the '01 (81k) following that procedure. When we bought the '04 I asked the service manager why the 41TE was so weak and he told me, off the record, that the 41TE needed to be serviced every 30k alternating between a drain and fill and a full service flush. The '04 now as almost 130k with no problem.

I do like the feeling of having more control around winding curves, and just knowing that I could punch it fun enough -- most of the time. LOL

About the tranny machine flushing, I'll check with our car guy about it. Thanks a bunch! I skipped making any kind of real intro to the forum so, hello.
