Re: A/C fan question
My first guess would be that the high speed brushes on the radiator cooling fan have gone bad. I had this problem with mine. The AC worked great at highway speeds and on really hot days, but not in city driving or on moderately hot days. Highway speeds caused enough air to blow thru the condenser to make the AC work, and a really hot day caused the low speed circuit part of the radiator fan to turn on.
With help from this forum, I was able to make the diagnosis. Try this: On a cold engine, open the hood. Turn on the engine. Go outside and listen to the sound under the hood. Go back in and turn on the AC all the way on, full cool. Go back out and listen again. You should listen to a fan roar. If you do not hear the fan roar, you need a new fan assembly. If you do hear the fan roar, something else is wrong, possibly a refrigerant leak needing a recharge.
