Angry 01 Starting Problem No Spark

I have 01 pt cruiser that just died on me. I replaced the Cam and Crank sensors and still will not start, No spark. Iremoved the connector to the coil pack and checked each wire for a pulse and had no pulse but the middle wire stayed on I had a solid 12.96 Volts, so I Disconnected the PCM and the light stayed on, which tells me I have a short. Has any body have run into this problem?????

Timing belt?? How many miles do you have on the car? What kind of maintenance has been done on it? Did you use OEM sensors? Have you done the "Key dance", if so, what codes did you get?

Welcome to the Forum, sorry your first post has to be a problem.

Cool Re: 01 Starting Problem No Spark

Hi I had the head rebuilt about 2 months ago and had new Timing belt and water pump installed, I used a code reader and it gave me a P340 Cam positioning sensor, after I installed the sensor I earased the code and I have no codes, the car cranks fine but there is no spark, so replaced the Crank Sensor and still no spark?

I have the same issue on a 2003 model. We replaced the plugs, coil, cam and crankshaft sensors, and have also tried switching the relays. The timing belt was suggested to me and it was the next thing i was going to look at. Any suggestions? Any luck with yours?

Hi I'm still working at it, from what I have check out it seems I have direct short to ground. I have 12.95 Volts at the center terminal of the coil plug when I have my tester connected to the + side of the battery.I have everything disconnected and I still have 12.95 Volts. So when I find this short I'll let you know.
Thanks

If you are going to check the timing belt, the best way is to take a compresion test by pulling the spark plug out. If you have compresion tester, if you don't have one just stick a rag and plug the whole with it, if you have compresion the rag will pop out.

No compression will tell you the belt broke, but if belt stretched/jumped teeth, you'll still have compression, but need a new belt....

So i opened the top of the timing belt cover and sure enough when i try to start it, the timing belt doesn't move. Getting to it is going to be rough though.

Hi I had a friend hook up his scanner and he found the short at the Crank Sensor Connector. So check your wires at the plug connector to the crank sensor, since they are to close the exhaust the heat cracks the insulation of and have a short and no spark gets distributed. This short cost me $200 after I replaced a few parts.
So good luck
