Default Window switch lights

Good afternoon.

The lights behind the window switches don't illuminate in my new-to-me 2001 PT Cruiser.

Are those replaceable, and how difficult is the task?

It isn't a big deal, but if I can fix it simply and easily, I would do so.

I tried the search facility but came up empty; forgive me if this has been covered previously.

Thanks in advance.

-TH

Not sure if you can replace the individual switches or lights but they come out pretty easily. Just pry gently all around the outside of the switch holder and it will come right out into your hands. There's two sets of connectors that come off and you can see if the lights are replaceable.

Correct, all 4 of the front should light up plus the 2 front door door locks light up also.

The top two of mine are out as well. (2001) From what I've heard you can't replace the lights, you have to replace the whole unit...
I'll live with the lights being out for now.

A few weeks back I asked this question as to whether the 4 switches on the dash should be lit because only my top two, the front windows switches light. Answer I got was only the two ones light and the other 2 don't.

fljohnboy, I do believe it depends on what year PT we are talking about. The earlier ones had all four, but as the demand for the PT increased, Chrysler and all decided to start cutting back on the accessories offered.

....and, the person who asked about the switches when starting this thread stated he had a 2001 so I was answering his question. If he hadn't stated what year his PT was I would have answered the same way hooligan did ....depends on the year of the PT.

As time went on Chrysler did away with the engine vanity cover, under hood alarm switch, passenger outside door lock, lighted switches, rear shelf and cargo net. Probably a couple other things I haven't mentioned also.

The ONLY thing I can think of that they added at no extra cost was the passenger armrest after the 2001 models.

Seems strange they would only take away 2 of the 4 switch lights. Mine is a 2005.

The two upper switches have the words "AUTO" on them that light up. Don't know if yours has that. They took away (I think) the lighted switches on the doors that had just the small dash (-) so maybe they just did away with the (-) switches for the window also or, maybe you just have the lights burnt out. Have to find another 05 owner to make sure.

Everything changed in 06 (exterior & interior) so I'm not sure what Chrysler did on those models.
