Default cold weather people: snow?

I'm only going to need to know this maybe twice a year, but, how do you remove the snow from the vent between the hood and the windshield without getting a lot stuck under the wiper blade arms? If it gets pushed in there, does it go straight through to the engine compartment?
Thanks

No. It doesn't go into engine compartment - but it is where fresh air intake is.
Use a snow brush and don't worry about what falls in.

Our snow is slushy, so it compacts easily, which is why I ask, because it's not just loose snow, it's wet, thick, icy, gloppy stuff that doesn't want to move. Normally, I use a snow brush (you would not believe how hard they are to find here), but it'll be ok, even if the whole vent is clogged?

Don't worry about it. Scoop as much as you can out with your hand. After the car heats up a bit most of it should melt & what doesn't will come out easier, especially if it is left to freeze a bit. The worst that can happen is a little fogging on the inside of the wind shield. Just keep the A/C on while defroster is on.

gasp

I have pics like that from a storm in Wyoming in '87 that covered my house, Yaris. Gosh, just thinking of removing all that snow makes my body hurt. Good luck this year- to all you polar bears!
