Default Work I Did Last 3 weeks

Start by saying that is is a great place.

Bought a 2001 PT with 125K. Timing and water pump were already done. It had GT silver rims. 2700$

Started with the rims. Pulled the paint with air craft paint remover paist. Then polished them with a bufing wheel. The look geat. Did have to pay to have the removed from the rim and remounted. Cost under 100$.

Next bought a spoiler stock one and painted it black to match the car. At the same time I painted the front and rear bumper. cost Spoiler 70$ and Paint 125$. Also puller all the badges from the back and sides.

Next installed lowering springs. 130$ 1.6/2 The rear did not lower to were I wanted and cut the spring to get it to the right height. Also installed KYB struts and springs. (cost 175$)

Installed wide armrest. (cost 100$) But worth it and nice. Easy install.

K&N Drop in filter. 35$

Dyno Max muffler and tip. 80$ Nice tone almost to loud but not rice rattey.

Shifter bushings (25$) Poly's

Got a set of those Icon Wiper blades today. Will send the 15$ rebate in soon. They were 20$ a pop. so 40$ total.

Did spark plugs and saw that the Valve cover was leaking into Spark plug so went and got a gasket set that fit ok but not perfect. Also did plug wires. Cost 100$ Top of the cams looked good. Must have had all the oil changes done on time.

Did the head Light Paint mod since it came with new lights to install.

Got a 44 Mag shifter today and installed easy. It is a lot taller. I like it. Do not like the writing on it and may grind that stuff off. (20$)

New dash is coming soon and a Watts thing. Dash was 130$ and Watts was 65$. Both New OEM.

Total 3700$

I need to redo the Timing belt due to the covers are tore to hell and not sure if the tensioner was done. (225)

May get a ST Grill for 175$ when money gets better. Other than that it runs good and not a tone of knocking from the front but may do bushings all the way around after the first of the year.

It is a nice car but needed to be made into a GT look a like. And it close to it. I can say I like to work on cars and treat them as my pride and joy. I have always wanted a PT since they came out but they cost to much then. Now I can afford one and get to work on it.

I had to wait to get my first PT 'till one of my children finished college - in between kids in college I got my second PT. Still smile when I look at it.

A suggestion - keep your eye on classified on PT forums like this one - I got a K&N FIPK, tailights, strut bar, grille - all used, good as new, for a lot less than new...

This is the grill I am looking at. I wish I could find a nice lower grill. I hate just bolting it to the other grill. Maybe I can cut the bumper out some? Probably not. I do like the top grill. Anyone ever bought one like it?

Yeah, mine and my daughter's are just like it - top is a replacement, bottom goes on top - be sure ther vertical bars behind the front are black (and therefore, nearly invisible) I have seen chrome ones and the vertical bars are chrome and stand out, which I don't like.

I tied the bottom on using black zip ties on the vertical bars to the stock grille.
There are several makers - some have more horizontal bars than others.

Here is another option, it's not a billet grille. It snaps in place in a few minutes and doesn't require removal of any grille parts.
