Lightbulb Looking for L.E.D. lighting suggestions...

Hi Mopar Brethren!

I was wondering of some if you have some ideas about LED lights to replace stock PT bulbs...

I want to enhance the lighting on my PT to match the color of my Xenon (8k color) headlights. So I'm looking for LED based replacement bulbs for....

- Rear liscence plate bulb suggestions

- Reverse lights

- Dome light

What do you guys like out there?

Outfit/Rocketman: What do you guys have?

I know you guys have some ideas.

Thanks!

Tom

Our PT has been in the family less than a week, replacing a Neon coupe. I can offer you a few ideas from the extensive use of LEDs in our Neon, and you figure out which ones you'd like to apply to your PT.

Our Neon had LED center brake light, trunk, dome, glove box, instrument cluster, and rear license. I used a lot of LED strips like the one shown below---cheap and plentiful on eBay.

Just keep in mind that LEDs draw a lot less current and produce a lot less light output (lumens) when you compare an incandescent and LED bulb of the same physical size. To get enough light, you need an LED strip or array that is larger than the incandescent you are replacing.

For example: The stock glove-box light in a Dodge Neon is a 168/194 incandescent. The light is a point source and poorly distributed across the glove box. In our Neons we replaced that with a flexible white (meaning blue-white) LED strip, IIRC 24 LEDs in a strip about 10" long, attached with double-sided foam tape to the "roof" of the glove compartment. The result is plenty of light, well distributed, even for map reading. The trick was to install a 168-style wedge base on the wires to the LED strip, so it would plug into the stock fixture.

Another example is in the trunk of the Neon, we used a white LED strip containing IIRC 48 LEDs.
