Default Alarm Problems

Hi All

I need some advice for the alarm on my 2001 PT....The problem i am having is after either locking door with key or keyfob the alarm activates as soon as the red led stops flashing....also no lights flash whilst alarm is activating...
Under any other circumstances when testing alarm the lights flash...At the moment im having to leave car unlocked......any help out there please?

This might not have anything to do with it, but on the 2001 there's part of the alarm system that's in the engine compartment that monitors the raisng of the hood. It's up by the firewall just above the computer. There's a plunger on the top that closes when the hood is down. Make sure that's properly working.

Double-check that all the doors and especially the tailgate are properly closed.

I was having some erratic alarm issues and it turned out that the rear gate was not firmly latched. It looked right, and the dash senser was not indicating an open gate, but when I opened it and firmly closed it my issues went away.

Hope your situation is as easily and cheaply resolved.
