Default Coolant Leak at Radiator

I have the wifes 03 PT GT Stick with 98K miles.

I noticed a couple small drips on driveway. Crawled under and the coolant trail drips off the fan connector and runs upward on the fan shrowd. It disappeared at the intercooler hose, I cant see it from above without taking out the battery.

Somehow I dont think there is anything like a hose or clamp in that area, so how bad are these radiators for the turbos??

Anyone had one leak, maybe at the end tank on the driver side near the battery?

I am guess when I remove the battery this weekend I will be able to locate the source of the leak, my guess is the gasket on the end tank or something. It looks like the List is 400$ for a new mopar but I can probably get it for 300sh from a friend.

Anyone replace it??

Right now it is a couple small drops on the drive way, reservoir still has coolant in it.

Hmm - usually it's on other side by cap and tube to overflow tank.
You'll have to see what's up...

This is definatley on the driver side and the upper hose looks OK, nothing coming off that since I could see the trail if it was weaping there. Will take a peak this weekend and yank the battery

I am just curious anyone else on here has had to put a new radiator in, especially the turbo radiator. I would rather replace a radiator than have it fail and overheat with the wifey driving it on her commute.

Well, Crewzin replaced his engine fan - and to do that, radiator comes out - he can give advice...but until you know the leak, I wouldn't order a radiator - from your description, it's a small leak.

Don,

I replaced the fan in my non-turbo PT. Don't know what difference the inter-cooler would make when changing things. There would be some extra plumbing that has to come off. Instructions for the change is on the top of the Tech & Performance section of this forum.

The fan system for the Turbos is an expensive part. lists over 780$.

Is controlled by the PCM, you dont want that to fail. I may buy one as a spare because knowing Chrysler they may allow them to go NS1 and anyone who needs one down the road may be up a creak. An example of this is the T3 and T4 radiators used in 90 and up G VNT cars and A and G bodies RT's with the T3 engine, they are special and you can no longer find them. You can't have them recored due to crap plastic end tanks.

Someone on PT crew replaced the Turbo Fan module with an aftermarket correct for the Turbo application, indicated it was junk since the power connector was not very good quality and didnt fit properly.

I have replaced both radiators for my wife's non turbo and for my own.
The radiators were $80 and simple to install.
Turbo may be a whole different thing.
Wifes radiator sprung a pinhole leak in upper driverside cap near hose.
JB Weld fixed it for a while but when it started again I put in the replacement, along with the fan.

Pulled the battery and found the leak.

at the crimp on the tank behind the battery. All well time for a new radiator.
