Default Is it possible to get 62.4 litres of Gas into my 56.7 litre tanK??

I went to the Gas station yesterday, full serve and the tank was pretty much empty. I watched the guy and he did the norm. but when I looked at the Gas Pump and the receipt it says the put in 62.2 litres (that is 16.43 Gallons) into my 56.7 litre gas tank (15 Gallons)

I looked in the manul and it says Fuel Capacity is (Approximate) but really can they get that much more GAS into it.

I think I am being ripped off, what do you all think.

HELP

Sheila

What I do to see if gas stations are being honest (my nature) is to stop the pump at exactly 1 gallon and see if it matches the price they are advertising. I've found they could be off by a couple of cents per gallon, to their side, which makes the price I'm paying more than what they are displaying on their sign.

Back to your question. if you were really, really low, like almost on fumes, there's maybe a gallon in the fuel pump and lines but if your that low, or not even that low your doing your car harm. The fuel pump (inside the tank) is lubricated and cooled by the gas inside the tank. Going lower than 1/8 tank on numerous occasions can burn the pump up. Plus, the bottom of the tank always has some residue which you don't want the pump to pick up and send it to the injectors.

If they are topping it off it will be only a matter of time before your charcol cannister is saturated with gas and you will be forced to buy another one. Not cheap either so I wouldn't let them top it off. When it clicks off that is it.

Did you get two chimes before you got gas? Needle deep in the red? Possible if they filled up the filler neck with gas.
