Bought a PT, weird stuff happening. Please help

Bought an 03 gt today but it comes with a few problems

Error code P0480 Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit
However my fan works, it is on whenever i start the vehicle, i dont think it ever shuts off?, bought it and drove it 300 miles without overheating

Left front turn signal doesnt work. rear works, bulb illuminates in the front casing but does not flash, left turn signal arrow on dash illuminates a solid left green arrow(doesnt show up until i turn the lights on though) and when activated (i hit the turn signal to turn left) solid arrow flashes very fast, with lights off the turn signal doesnt work still in the front only difference is there is not a bright green arrow staring at me
-So pretty much im driving it home tonight with the dash all lit up and my lights on and a big green left arrow staring at me.

Also, what bulb is rear license plate as mine appears to be out? I hope just "out"

Fuel needle in "wrong" position.
It works when full the needle pointing over and almost hitting the temperature display needle (2 o'clock) and when on Empty it is almost at where the needle should be when actually full.. its like its rotated too far clockwise. when car is off it drops to normal spot (i guess) all the way down past E

Could just be fuses? but I have no idea where fuses are on it and no manual to guide me.

Any help would be appreciated, I live in Gainesville, FL

Oh what does -49celsius on the maplight compass temperature thing mean. I figured out how to change the zone but do i need to put a new thermometer somewhere? in the tailpipe?

update - In the daytime when I use my turn signals -without my lights- on the left front one actually flashes but it flashes very very very fast. but when i turn my lights on it turns into a solid green arrow and wont flash in the front at all...

what kind of coolant can i get from the walmart to put in it? just the regular stuff? i need to top it off its getting low, i imagine from the long drive back from south florida?

Do not use anything other than HOAT coolant, I believe there is only one other kind that is compatible. I usually runs about $18,00 & up per gallon. If it is NOT HOAT it will clog up your radiator and engine.

No I had trouble finding it near me in NY and the dealer is expensive, I ordered from these guys, it was a great price and free shipping. Try NAPA if you have one by you.

It seems someone may have rigged your fan to stay on, because it shouldn't be on all the time unless the AC is on. It's also a two speed fan on the non turbo. It sounds like you have some other electrical issues.

napa nearby with zerex for 8.97 a gallon how do i drain the coolant completely and fill with correct coolant. i do not want to mix since you said its not the right stuff i need this car to last a few years and how many gallons will i need for the 03 chrysler pt cruiser gt everything in the engine bay is so crammed together my previous car is a 92 saturn, very spacious engine bay that car has half a million miles and now its on its last leg just the past week i paid 500 dollars for ignition control modules and then the radiator got a crack in it and the ac broke and transmission started slipping... all in one week... thats why i decided to buy another vehicle. Hopefully this one will see that many miles it seems so young in mileage(60k) compared to the saturn...

Your system takes 6.5 quarts of coolant. A 50/50 mix of water and HOAT coolant. It mat be a little bit more expensive but DO IT if you plan on keeping the PT around like your Saturn.

The tag light is a number #168

The rear lights are number #3157-P27/7W

The front park/turn signal lights are number #4157NAKX

If any of the bulbs stay lit or flash fast, check the other end and replace the bulbs. They are cheap and easy to replace.

Fuel needle. Check all the needles by holding in the trip button while turning on the ignition key (don't start the engine). This will test all the numbers and dials. in all the guages.


The temperature sensor is in front of the radiator when you open the hood. It's a little 2 inch thick needle that's attached to the center piece.

Get yourself an owners manual and it will tell you how to change the setting from Celsius to Fahrenheit. You need the owners manual anyway for a lot of different things and again, if you plan on keeping the car it will come in handy.

In the TECH section, look for all the free information and downloads. I'm pretty sure you get the owners manual for free.

Don't know what to say about your fan. If it's turning and the PT isn't overheating anytime, then just keep an eye on it.
