Newb buying at auction.

Greetings folks! I'm looking into buying a car, and came across an auction. I'm really not sure about this method of buying. Can any of you folks share any car auction experiences? Whether good or bad, I'd like to hear/read from you.

Another thing, I've noticed some vehicles have rebuilt/salvage titles, is there any big deal buying one of those?

Do you meen auction like used car dealers buy from or you talking salvage??

Myself I wouldnt do either.

After looking for 6 months at PT's all I can say is the cherry ones which are traded in, the new car dealers will hold onto. They will kick the ones which need major reconditioning and or major work.

SO the ones they kick go to used dealers who when they cant sell them, they kick em to auction.

Per salvage, I wouldnt risk have something I get cheap bite me in the azz and have major problems.

SO to me look at the new car dealer or look on craigslist for a one owner with records. You will get the car at the private party price or better and if you do your homework, probably save a few bucks versus something risky since at auction you have no way of knowing who owned it and what issues it may have, you assume all the risk.

What kind of auction is this? Most auto auctions that dealers get inventory from aren't open to the public. If it is, you'll see a red light lane and a green light lane. Buy from the green light lane because those vehicles have been inspected. Pending a final arbitration inspection, you are protected in a green light sale if they find something wrong, and you won't have to buy the vehicle. You won't find anything with a salvage title in the greenlight lane.

Don't get anything red light. Period.

The one listed is too high for a wrecked, '08 with that many miles on it.
You can do much better.

Agree completely.
That price is no bargain - and a salvage title is a near guarantee you will have trouble when you go to sell.
