1698 error code cant find

i downloaded the error code manual and couldnt find the error code i pulled from the car today the code i got was 1698 and the manual goes from...and skips it..

P1696 Remote Keyless Entry Voltage High
P1700 Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination

Anyone know what it is?

P1698-NO BUS MESSAGE FROM TRANS CONTROL MODULE
I am getting am intermittent problem that occurs occasionally when i start the car after sitting it shows squares over the P R N D rather than the norm of there only being a square over P when in park and only over D when in drive etc..
Not sure what it was i just turned the car off and then turned it back on and it was fine, has happened three times now though within past week
I dont understand the code exactly though..

TCM going bad? Wire? any way to check i just bought the car and i dont know where anything is so as much details as possible i would be very greatful..
Not happening during a good week either, my fiance's grandmother passed away and we have been running errands all week for the funeral this friday...

Car USUALLY goes into "limp mode" - 2nd gear only - when tranny is about to die, and USUALLY the code is P0700.
Does car drive (and shift) okay?
I'd bet a loose connector, or wiring.

I have no idea where to look for the wire? The engine compartment is so compact. I tried looking at the wiring diagram in the manual but it looks like a crossed out wordsearch

I wouldn't know about the limp mode thing. As soon as it happened I noticed the boxes were not the norm as I am pretty photographic. So I have yet to drive it under the conditions I just shutdown key out and then restart car until it goes away.. its very intermittent though.. hadn't happened since last time i posted on this message I think we were spared due to circumstances and now this morning though it came back... booo
where should i be looking for the TCM at? Crawl under and bottom of tranny or side of tranny...
