Exclamation 2006 PT Cruiser - How to disconnect the horn so can use the car!

Hi there,
Well, our one & only remote got put through the wash, so I had to dry it out the best I could ...
As I was doing that, the car horn started going off, every minute or so! I finally disconnected the battery, so as to shut the blaring horn off .... Now I need to know how to find and disconnect the horn relay, so that I can drive it into town to get it checked out. As I am a senior, I don't think I have the energy or know-how to start taking the whole car apart, just to get this HORN PROBLEM solved!
Much thanks for any suggestions, as I need to be able to drive my beloved cruiser, sans embarrassing horn blaring the whole way to town!!!
Pete

Pete,

Would really like to help you out as I see most posts first but Darn Chrysler changed things around so much for the 2006+ models that they don't label the horn/relay anymore. Real easy on the 00-05 PT's. Nothing on the fuse/relay chart for your model shows where the horn fuse and relay is located.

Worst case scenario is to get under the inner fender of the passenger side because that's where the horn is actually located. The horn connection of course is in the middle of the steering wheel and you don't really want to mess around with that.

Hopefully one of the Chrysler mechanics or someone that knows more about the horn relay or fuse will come along soon and help you out.

Thanks for the reply ... Now that's pretty interesting, as I've been having a good look around and have yet to locate that horn relay! I've called for a tow, as that will keep the neighbours happy and will get Chrysler dealer in town take care of it .... Hopefully, we'll be able to get this thing disconnected A$AP!
Thanks again for the info .... HONK, HONK Pete

The horn fuse is #23 and the relay goes between terminals 62 and 66 in the TIPM.

Thanks Chris. We sure can't tell anything by looking at the owners manual for fuse use and location.

Does fuse #23 work any other components? And how do you get to the relay between terminals 62 and 66?

I looked at my owners manual yesterday when radar detector didn't work, under fuse it shows the location of the TIPM under hood ... no chart, have to go underhood and pull the cover and look at that chart.

The 01 is different, but also has fuses and relay inside and underhood, 06 has them all underhood. Well ... unless added items. The rader needed a new 2A tube type fuse inside the lighter pluggin.

Glad you got the info ... was gonna go pull mine for ya.

Pete, where abouts are you located? Just curious if you're close enough for me to check it out.
