Default Buying a PT Cruiser: anything to worry about?

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum, but I'm going to be buying a 2003 PT Cruiser Limited tomorrow when the owner gets the title out of her safety deposit box.

Is there anything I should worry/ask about with this car? It looks to be in good shape and to have been well-maintained. It has 90,000 miles and the alternator, radiator, shocks and struts, and tires are all new.

Someone mentioned that I should ask about whether the timing belt has been changed, but I don't know when that needs to be changed or if the 03 limited even has a belt (I've heard some have chains).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Josh

Timing belt replacement is due at 120,000 miles and it is a good idea to heed that interval. Our last PT timing belt broke at 123,000 miles.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea how much it costs to have that done? I come from the Ford world, so I have a ballpark, but every make is different.

We were quoted $700 to $800 by an indy shop and the local Chrysler dealer.

That's not too bad. About what I figured. I know some things in the PT cruiser can be hard to replace because of the compact engine compartment.

True, while they are in there it's a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time.
