Default Power Windows, AC/Heat Fan don't work

Hello!

I have a 2001 PT Cruiser, and a couple of weeks ago the power windows and the heating/cooling fan in the dash stopped working. The Air Bag light is also on, so I think the sensor is affected by whatever the problem is. They all have separate fuses, which appear to be good. I suspect it's a relay, but can't locate one for those systems.

Any suggestions?

My thanks for any help you can provide!
-Patrick

Patrick,

I was hoping one of the mechanics would come along and have a suggestion because it sure sounds strange that all those separate things are wrong at the same time. I know of no relay that ties them together. You might just have to have a mechanic with a scanner see if he can find the problem.

Hi Crewzin!

I was hoping someone would too. Looks like I'll be taking her to the shop.

Thanks!

Hello Patrick,
Did you find the answer to this issue? Ours just did this exact same thing this week. Wife started it up and all the windows wouldn't work, Air bag light is on and the inside blower fan does not work. Checked all fuses. NAPA says theres a 4 prong multi relay somewhere that could be the issue. What did you find was the culprit with yours?
Thanks
Retrofn

Check fuse # 3 (40 amp) in the power distribution center (PDC) under the hood. It is a common feed to the fuses and circuit breaker for all three systems that you mentioned.

I rechecked this fuse and even replaced it with one of the others. No luck so the hunt goes on.

Default Power windows quit - Ignition Switch

Hooray, We had to bring the PT in to find this one. Our mechanic spent a few hours on diagonistics. The issue was a $50.00 ignition switch!. Even though the car would run it wasn't giving power to all systems. He also saw a draing to the air bag. Replaced this switch and bingo, alls well.

I know your post is quite old, but wondered if you remember if it was the actual ignition switch that holds key or was it the ignition starter switch module. Thanks

Welcome to the forum

The OP hasn't been back on the forum since 08/10.

When you get a chance, please go to https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html and create an intro thread telling us a little about yourself and your PT

Most likely the ignition tumbler switch. There's a piece on the end of them that breaks off from time to time. Cheap pot metal.
