Default My AC and the dealership

Boy am I glad I bought the extended warranty for my 2005 GT. I brought mine in for an AC problem and they kept it for a week giving me several excuses. They recharged it and found a leak in the evaporator. Replaced that and it was still leaking. Replaced it again, so they say and returned it to me. Drove it for one day and no air. Brought it back and they gave me a loaner. Had it for another week. I got it back. The center panel was gouged and scratched. They had to remove that for some reason. "The guy is new " was the story that I got. Stuck a thermometer in and it was blowing 74. Brought it back for another couple of days while they try again to fix the AC. They got a dash guy in to fix/regrain the dash and a complete detail. After close to 3 weeks total I finally got my baby back, AC seems to be working with an explanation that the cable wasn't closing the vent all the way so I was getting a mixture of hot air off the heater core. These are the professionals that we pay $95 an hour for.
PS My Bic lighter is missing and the light behind the temp gauge is not working anymore. Sorry to vent but the moral is. Beware of the dealer. They are not as professional as they would like you to believe.

How about the center panel. Did they replace it or just try to repair it some way?

Not quite sure what you expected. There's really no diagnostic system with the a/c, so the only way to pinpoint a problem sometimes is to look at every last possiblity. I'm not at all surprised by what they did (minus damaging the center panel, but at least they made it right).

Of course, I work for a dealer, so I'm biased! You would have had the same results likely at any other dealer you took it to.

Hey Bro what dealer are you going to? So I can avoid it until the mechanic gets some experience.

You funny Dino. The dealer is right around the corner. Maybe I'll try Grand Prix next time.

Yes, they did fix everything that they screwed up and they did give me a 2010 PT with 800 miles for a loaner but they are supposed to be professionals. Like I said, I'm sure glad that I bought the extended warranty.

I don't know how the service is but the parts department is better at the one on Sunrise in Wantagh, called Merrick Chrysler/Dodge. I went to the one near us and the parts were more expensive and the guy was unfriendly.
