The first couple weeks we had ours, I put an 8' ladder in there. Tied it down with bungies so it didn't get away. Fit beautifully, but....
Apparently I had the bungies so tight, every bounce bounced the ladder into the airbag cover on the passenger side, against which it was resting.

Have yet to get that fixed. Still dented to this day. Only been 2 and a half years....
Someday....

t
For the time being maybe a bullet hole decal on that dent? That will give you another 2 years or so to fix it

Yep! It's great fun to watch people's faces when you load the "big stuff" into the car. We've astonished the guys at customer pickup more than once.

AND, I also haul eight foot lengths of lumber in mine on a regular basis. With the shelf in the back on the second setting from the bottom I can put a lot of my smaller tools under the shelf. Just love what I can do with this car! Oh yes, my front seat goes down also.

hauled a brand new lawn mower. swallowed it up without even flinching. i did chicken out on hauling cut pieces of pipe in it. used my truck instead. but hauling bagged manure in the back.... mmmmm...think not (that would be a gift that keeps on giving!)

electric blue 03 GT-air horns, ravin' muffler, billet grille, color matched (G2) brake calipers, flame tinted windows, billet trinkets sprinkled throughout the interior, color matched window switch panel, color matched door lock pulls, color matched dash panel air knobs, door pocket holes plugged and color matched. matrix hid-style lighting, rear spoiler, gt cruiser plaques covering the "baby death" stickers, 12" sub w/250 watt amp with dash mounted control knob, clear lens back up lights, chromed antenna bezel.
to be installed very soon: suspension techniques f&r sway bars, amx1397 air intake (with ram air hose), 7 color led kit, carbon fiber overlay for fuel door, pt tuning strut bar

While I'm still tweezering splinters out of the headrests, I bought a custom cut piece of 3/4" Plywood that slid right on in! Even I was amazed.

When it was brand new, I bought two extra "D-Rings", like the ones on the side of the back, and put them on the inside bottom of the rear hatch, so that if I ever have to tie the open rear hatch down, I'll have two lash points. Chrysler didn't put lash points on the rear hatch because of exhaust liability, but with the front windows open, that shouldn't be a problem.

I too have carried lumber in my PT (as much as a dozen 8'-2x6 plus 2 boxes of floor tile) For the Transfer Station (dump) runs I put a piano hinge down the middle of a sheet of plywood and contoured it to fit out to the rear doors - turns the rear into an enclosed pickup. When you have to use the PT as a small truck, it does the job with style.

My wife's PT on the other hand doesn't get anything nastier than a load of groceries in it.

Was wondering if the D-rings you used were replacement DCX parts, or aftermarket. If they were replacements, do you happen to have a part number? Had an occasion to stuff the back of the Cruiser, but fo lack of the tie-downs (or twine!) I had to tie my shoelaces together and loop 'em around the rear windshield wiper assembly and the tailgate latch! [xx(]
