While I'm still tweezering splinters out of the headrests, I bought a custom cut piece of 3/4" Plywood that slid right on in! Even I was amazed.

When it was brand new, I bought two extra "D-Rings", like the ones on the side of the back, and put them on the inside bottom of the rear hatch, so that if I ever have to tie the open rear hatch down, I'll have two lash points. Chrysler didn't put lash points on the rear hatch because of exhaust liability, but with the front windows open, that shouldn't be a problem.

Was wondering if the D-rings you used were replacement DCX parts, or aftermarket. If they were replacements, do you happen to have a part number? Had an occasion to stuff the back of the Cruiser, but fo lack of the tie-downs (or twine!) I had to tie my shoelaces together and loop 'em around the rear windshield wiper assembly and the tailgate latch! [xx(]

Very inventive with the shoelaces, hahaha.

Put in a small kitchen table (legs intact) and 2 chairs, still had room for wife in passenger seat.

Also - at least to '02 model, base didn't have folding front seat.

Sorry it took so long to surf back this way, it just depends on the tide, I guess.

Here's a link to Wyckoff Chrysler, where I bought the D-Rings. They are just under the "OEM rear cargo net", and are called "Cargo tie down loops", the part is # 5023205AB and they are $5.85. (I've forgotten if that's each or for a pair.)

Oh, BTW, be sure the D-Rings are screwed into the metal in a location where it will not interfear with closing the rear hatch.

The plastic is way too weak, but the metal only has a couple square inches where it won't impact the door frame.

Also, choose screws carefully, so they don't penetrate the rear sheet metal.

You'll figure it out.

Just go faster and leave the exhaust behind.[:0]

Hi Guys. As I have said before on another post, I haul a lot of 8 ft. lumber in my PT and I offer this tip. My wife bought me an enexpensive 8 ft. runner rug at Home Depot that I lay all the way from the tailgate to the dash. That way I don't get any wood fibers on the back of the seats when they are folded down. I also usually drape an old blanket over the front of the lumber so I don't go damaging the dash. Perhaps this may be of some help.[?]

i use carpet runners on the cold cement garage floor when i am fiddling with my gt. much better than a drop cloth. when done with the project, just roll it up and on the shelf it goes! i got some mats on ebay from "matgirl". she might be able to fab something that will color match the carpeting on anyone's cruiser. the 8' length might be a long for her to fab, but it is worth asking. the "runner" can be rolled up and neatly sit in the back when not in use. she is very prompt in replying to questions and shipped out my floor mats within a couple of days of receiving my payment. highly recommended. her email is cindy@thematgirl.com-----just sharing a thought

A friend and I went to Toronto couple months ago, stopped at IKEA. Came back with:

2 Dining Room Chairs
1 Chest of Drawers
3 End Tables
2 Floor Lamps
1 Flat of flowers
1 3'x4' Mirror
2 Bean bag chairs

..stuffed in the back, plus all our luggage. Filled right to the top.

Guard at border wanted to know if I had anything to declare. Uh, furniture? He's like, what kind? I'm like, wood? Few more stupid replies and he waved us through. Whoo-hoo, no duty!
