Default Tie Rod End Issue during replacement

I was replacing my tie rod ends tonight and the drivers side went pretty smooth but when I got to the passenger side I ran into a problem.

I got the jam nut loose and unscrewed the tie rod end. I put the new end on and couldn't get the jam nut tight against the tie rod end. Normally, I know that using heat would be the best option to move the jam nut (which I do not have.) I know I need to get the car aligned now after doing this. Should I mess with it anymore or just take the car to get it aligned and let the person doing it worry about it?

Would it be safe to drive maybe a mile or two?

They would be obligated to make sure everything was tight right?

On a side note, the drivers side tie rod end was the source of my last clunk from the front end...
