Default Cruise Control Failure

Hi All,

After lots of fun with my PT Overheating and losing coolant - the problem was finally found after a pressure test made the leak much more obvious. A £13 pipe was the culprit ($20 roughly).

Have had 2 weeks of driving without any problems - but now my Cruise Control seems to have failed.
It comes on, the dash shows the Cruise Control text - but soon as you engage (set) it the text disappears on the display and it wont come back on.

Checking fault codes revealed initially:

P1684 (had just fitted a new battery)
P1595

I disconnected the battery for a bit, let the codes reset to just P1684 but soon as I used the cruise control the P1595 is back in there.

I know the code is described as: Speed Control Solenoid Circuits - can anyone confirm this will effect Cruise Control & any likely fixes?

Thanks,
Steve

Default Re: Cruise Control Failure

Do you know where the Cruise Control Servo is? Back left hand corner of the engine bay. Silver and black control that sits over the strut tower. Check the connections on the servo and follow the wire over to the throttle linkage to make sure it's connected properly. That's as far as I can tell you.

To answer your question. YES, the Speed Control Solenoid Circuit will/does effect the Cruiser Control.

The whole system consists of the PCM, vacuum servo, brake switch, control switches and the vehicle speed sensor.

Default Re: Cruise Control Failure

Your problem is electrical - Speed control also uses engine vacuum, and I had a vacuum hose come off and kill speed control....
