Default Mystery klaxon

Hey all first off i am a newb here but hoping someone can help me out. I just recently got a 06 cruiser and was pretty happy i have always thought they were pretty neat. anywho i havent had any problems with it however this afternoon when i got in after lunch with a friend and went to start it a 2 tone klaxon went off for about 10 seconds or so then i could start it. it also sounds when i turn the engine off. i thought maybe it was a warning for the gas cap since had gotten gas earlier and made sure it was tight but it was still going off the next time i drove. anyone know what this means? i tried looking in the owners manual but true to form it is pretty useless.

I've never heard of anyone hearing that kind of noise except for the after market fun horn (Claxton/Ahooga) that some of us have installed. There are bells and chimes that sound for warnings.

Maybe the previous owner installed one and forgot to tell you.

Oh, yeah forgot about Chrysler's klaxon promotion. They built 500,000 units and put a kalxon in one. If the lucky owner found it Chrysler paid the car off. Oh yea, the promotion ended December 2006...

it could be some sort of warning noise but i have no idea for what the best way i can describe it is like a European police siren.

My guess would be a after market alarm or auto start of some kind. If it was some type of warning wouldnt a check engine light or somethng be on?

no warning lights come on and it also does it when i turn the car off and i wasnt told of it having an auto start. i took a video with my cell it isnt the best quality but you can hear it keep going after the usual start up chimes end.

Almost definitely something that someone added as an after market warning/security system.

The bad part about picking up a used car is that crucial paperwork usually doesn't make it to the new owner. You'd be lucky to get the owners manual yet alone something explaining what was added to the car. Even if it was given to the dealer by the previous owner.
