Default Re-Education

Girl friend got a blown tire today. Had to have been 1988 the last time I changed
one (Newark-Bayonne Bridge, what fun that was). Took me about an hour, the worst
thing was figuring out the crank for the scissors jack worked best with the tire iron
inserted on the one end, making it easy to remove the last three lug nuts.

The donut spare:

The Crown Vic hubcap disappeared on the front:

The remains:

Yikes! That's just scary.

I've changed my share of flats, and I've come to the conclusion that the scissor jacks that come with most cars today are dangerous and worthless. Nowadays, the older and fatter I get, I figure this is the sort of thing I pay for AAA to do. I know I feel better that my wife doesn't have to change a flat, and I'd rather not have to anymore. AAA covers all our vehicles/drivers, so...

The old wheel was okay. Took Blue over to my local Goodyear place & bought a new tire.

Just buy a good jack, i can change a tire in less than 2 minutes due to a hydraulic jack.
I usually find a reason to take parts of my car apart just for knowledge of the car, and you can see if things need replacing. I check my pads at least once or twice a month . You can check the front with your hands no problem , but the backs come off at least once a week
