Default Aftermarket multifunction switch didn't work.

So, I have the whole fog-lights-never-turn-off issue, and had just pulled the fuse. But to pass state inspection, if you have fog lights they have to work. before just taking them out, I thought I would replace the switch.

I bought this one and it was a breeze to install, but it didn't work. It turned the headlights and taillights on and off, but the flashers, turn signals, fogs, and the dash cluster indicator lights for signals/headlights didn't work.

It looked identical to the one I pulled out, and the harness fit. Anybody got any ideas? I put the old one back in, and all is well (except the fog lights are still wonky.)

Old part number is 04671-870AA.

Since you put the old one back in and everything works except for the fogs, apparently it isn't as compatible as they lead you to believe.

We tell everyone that's replacing the sensors to only buy Chrysler parts because there's been too many aftermarket parts that don't work in the PT.

Maybe you did what I did. I did NOT transfer the blinker from the back of the old one to the new one. Once I did that all worked!!!

I didn't even realize there was a separate blinker relay. I saw a photo of it this morning on another thread. I'll give it another go.

I'm concerned that the fog lights didn't work either when the new one was in... would that be because of the same relay? Or is there another mechanism for the fog lights?

Without the relay, I had headlights and taillights, but that is it. No fogs, no blinkers, no dash indicators and no lights-on warning.

Crap. I tried it again, this time switching the relay over. It was still the same. So, I reinstalled the old switch... and now I hav no turn signals or hazards with either switch.

I guess I blew the relay?

I guess thats possible. I got mine in a MOPAR fog lamp kit as to '02 didn't have fog lamps when we bought it used. I just looked at the Advance Auto Warranty, you may be able to return it as faulty. Does the invoice allow you to return?

I'm going to return it. Apparently, it blew the #18 hazard fuse when I swapped the relay, which leads me to believe that the aftermarket part is faulty. (Notably, though, the one I bought at Advance also has the Lucas and Mopar logos stamped on it, just like the OEM).

Fog lights are still stuck on, though. I wonder if it's worth trying another switch, or if I should just pull the stupid fog lights out.

I would just leave them in with the fuse pulled, but it won't pass state inspection that way. If it has fog lights, they gotta work. Booooooooo.

I've had the Advanced Auto Parts switch in my car for a couple months now and have had no problems. Try exchanging it for another one before you drop the cash on buying an OEM one cuz this one was like $50
