Default Anyone Have Any Helpful Suggestions with Picking out Shock Absorbers?

Hello again,

I'm searching for decent shocks and struts for my wife's 2002 PT. What have you had luck with? I am not looking to lower it. I want the standard height but want a comfortable ride. Currently, it is bottoming out on the rear shocks. The front is rough too, but not quite as bad. I have about 59,000 miles on the vehicle.

Helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

What I would do.

Go to Advance auto and buy the Moog Strut mount kits which includes the upper bearing and mount and spring isolater Moog K7375 106$ per need 2, Moog lower coil spring isolator need 2 K7549 10$ and Moog strut bellow K90463 23$ need 2.

Moog sway bar bushings K80364 12$, sway bar outer links need 2 K7347 18$ per,

Advance has discount coupons for like 20% of with Free shipping.

Per the struts and shocks I would go with Tokico blues, I got mine off an E-bay vendor for about 250$ shipped.

Replace all these and you will have a really nice riding car. You might also consider repalcing the control arms with new moog units, about 100$ each. Will give you new ball joints and LCA bushings which fail.

Thank you for the reply. I already took care of of the lower control arms, which helped some in the front, but the rest of the items here definitely will be swapped out. It will be great to have this car riding nice. It is a great vehicle, even with the suspension problems. Soon, it will be new again.

Thanks again for your advice and have a good one!

I can vouch for these parts. I bought them to replace the factory struts and it's a noticeably better ride. The factory struts were pretty worn out.

Note to any other car idiots like myself: you might as well buy the rears at the same time. The parts and labor for the fronts are close to 5x what you'll pay to also do the rears.

Be sure to check the struts when they come in. The eBay seller originally sent me the wrong ones. I googled the part number and found out. They quickly replaced them at no charge.

Also, if VNT is still listening and doesn't mind, do you have similar advice for the other parts for the rears? Or are the struts all I need to buy?

per the rears, I simply replaced the shocks, easy to do yourself.

There is a dog bone pivot, watts linkage with two lateral links. the middle pivot bolt goes thru the dog bone and there is a bushing there. Push on the links at the dog bone and if there is any play the bushing is shot. You can get a new one, Dorman makes one and chysler has one. You will need a male allen socket to remove the later links from the dog bone and a couple big wrenches forgot the size for the pivot. also the pivot is marked forward aft and up down so take note before you remove the orignal.

See ttached pic, dog bone is near the bend in the exhaust
