Here is why the fast flash is happening. The vehicle's electronics look for the resistance of the incandesent bulb to know it is still good. It is flashing because it thinks the LED is actually a burned out bulb. You can actually put the old bulb back in in parallel with the LED and then it will not fast flash or install a resistor. But it must in parallel not series.

Before you get a different flasher, check out the automotive section of www.superbrightleds.com. I get all my LED's from them and they have resistor modules so that your car will stop freaking out and flashing the LED too fast.

I put LED lights in my 2002 LTD Cruiser. License plate lights, Rear tail/brake lights, 3rd brake lights and rear turn signals. I was getting the same rapid flash because of the low voltage demand by the LEDs.
I actually liked it, but I have learned that in some states it can be illegal, like having an actual burnt out bulb. But I found a recommended replacement for the flasher unit (Which is under the upper steering column cover, BTW).
The stock unit is an OMRON 0661A2.
I replaced it with a Tridon Lighting Control Module: LM470 ($29.99 @ AutoZone). Novitá Technologies
It works perfectly. The audible clicker is a little louder, but it is a bit tinny.
The LM470 says it's LED compatible and should work with various Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles from 1995 to 2006.
