They are plastic, and attach with 3M adhesive tape, which is pre-installed.

I bought them last year from this Amazon seller, but they were only $29.00 at that time.

The most recent jobs I've had on my cruiser are, new pads on the front. Got some replacement pads and discs to go on as not happy with the other pads.

Replaced the cracked back light with a replacement one from ebay. Easy fix that was.

I've dismantled the multifunction switch AGAIN to fix the fog lights on the front. My fix which I followed from the amazing post on this forum held up since I did it, but the glue I used eventually gave up and the aluminium sleeve I made fell away. As I had another multifunction switch available to me which wasn't identical and didn't work correctly, allowed me to take the lever out of it that controls the fog lights from the stalk and put that in and now it works beautifully.

A recent trip to France left me with a destroyed passenger mirror (genuinely not my fault). Bought a second hand replacement which works. The only problem is that the wire loom that goes through from the mirror assembly through the car to the molex connector in the door panel is about 3 inches shorter than the one I replaced. I took the door panel off to find that I could move the connector in the door upwards a little, enough to connect it up, but it puts the connector in the way of the door panel fitting flush back, so I need to cut the wire and resolder some extensions into it which is a job I could have done without. The cog mechanism that folds the mirrors in is very loud in comparison to the old one so I may take it off again and see if I can open it up and grease the gear train.

After that, my final jobs are to have the front pads and discs replaced, fix an annoying rattle in the driver's side rear door, and then get it back through its MOT. Hopefully there is enough tread on the tyre on the back to get me through without a hitch!

It never ends, but I really enjoy working on it.

Looked how dirty it is from the weekend Sunday drive to RENO and Truckee River yesterday. Some car are like dirt magnets?

So started to first clean the interior. The rest will be in the next few days. It will be a 3 day clean and detail task.

I don't recall I was ever out of action? I have been very busy with a couple PT Cruiser's and their owners which are members on this forum. Just cant post about "their" projects!

I not sure...don't you have to want something you never owned vehicle wise for it to be called a *mid life crisis? I have owned and still own Hot Rods ,convertibles,Street machines etc, and have never given them up since I began playing with them around 1974 so why would it be called a mid life crisis now? I do like the sound however that means I have close to another *50+ years to live.

Got my lighted sill plates today, that was SUPER fast!!! They look awesome, but I won't be able to install them for a few weeks, leaving tomorrow to see and help my grandmother in Reno. The picto-gram instructions make it look like a convoluted mess, haha. Fun times will be had. After I get them in I will post pics and we can all see how they look with the Tangerine paint!

Yeah those "instructions" leave something to be desired.

I didn't follow the wire routing instructions and came up with my own that IMO works better on the Gen2.

I don't know about the Gen1, but you might check under the drivers side sill cover for a wire bundle that includes a wire for the dome lights, that would be the best, and much more convenient place to get a power wire.

Another change I made to the "instructions" is that I didn't drill the 3/4" hole in the rocker panel on the inside for the light panel wires.

Instead, when you remove the inside sill panel there are 4 white plugs that the sill panel cover clips into. I removed the 2nd from the back and created a slight notch with a rat tail file to create enough clearance for the wires, then fished the light panel wires through, and then replaced the white plug. Worked perfectly and certainly a much cleaner install than having a big hole in the rocker panel.

Good to know. If I were to buy a set of these, drilling that hole was not something I wanted to have to do.

It would be kind of cool, and I don't know color mixing, but since the sill plate light panels are blue, if there was a color that when mixed with blue would produce an orange color. If that was possible, maybe you could find a thin color film to put over the blue panels before you mounted them into the plates, so that when lit, the PT CRUISER would show up in orange on your DC2.
