Arrow Have 2 keys, no remotes... new fob hurdles?

I've read a million threads so far (okay, less than 1m, but seems like a lot) and now I'm not quite so sure about my options.

Have a 2001 limited edition. Bought it earlier this year with two working keys and ZERO fobs/remotes. Lock/unlock buttons on all doors never worked until today when I replaced the car battery. It was all manual....24/7. Until today - Wow - functioning locks!

I had thought my "lock brain" (RKEM?) was toast. Perhaps not. Now of course I want remotes... ebay's got 'em cheap, but sounds like I really have to have a dealer or locksmith program any I'd have purchased since I currently have no fobs at all? Any other options?

Thanks in advance.

no, you'll have to have the dealer do the first one.

The "nvm" above, he'd posted the instructions and prob realized I was asking something different and edited it out.

Thanks for the confirmation on the "dealer option" (pun intended) for getting a functioning remote. Was worth a shot.

Next step - call dealer for a remote price: "I need a remote", "Yeah, that'll be equal to a monthly car payment on a Dodge Viper."

0h don't buy from the dealer. I bought mine off ebay (2) and took one to the dealer for programming do other one yourself when you get home. I think the dealer charge me 35 dollars and that was with having another key cut (again bought off ebay)

Yeah, it was a long day and I remembered a simple how-to set up a FOB however it requires at least 1 working one...I reread your post and realized you didn't have a single one

"4671641AE" = The search begins.

One dealer wants $62 for the remote. Another is $85 + $60 to program it... shessh. I can do better on eBay and probably w/ some effort can get someone to program it for about half that.

One other question - Appears there are similar/same part numbers for other remotes but with different 2 letters on the end as well- guessing that's something that is NOT interchangeable? I think I ran across an AG and another few in some other threads at one point. Anyone know?

Thanks again - this forum rocks.

Thumbs up Re: Have 2 keys, no remotes... new fob hurdles?

How random is this? Bought a remote off eBay months and months ago. Never got around to doing anything more than sticking it on my keychain. No programming attempts, ever. Nothing.

Left my lights on last week, drained the battery totally dead. Got a jump, drove home. Power locks stopped working (remember, the remote NEVER did work, and it's the only one I have and the car came with zero remotes.)

I unhooked the car battery for 20 min a couple days ago so I could "reset" the power locks - that worked (again). Today I accidentally hit the "unlock" on my random remote, and WHAT?? All the locks make a noise. Hit "lock", they all lock. Holy hell - how did that happen??
