Default Window motor jammed and wire came off

I took my '05 Cruiser to get my inspection done yesterday. All went well. When I went to roll my window up before leaving, all I got was a grinding noise from the motor and no movement from the window. And in stereotypical mechanic behavior, about all I got out of the guy was "I've seen odder things happen before."

I'm not mechanically inclined so I waited for my step-dad to get home so we could try to find out what was wrong. Once we got the panel and watershield removed we disovered that the metal wire that pulls the window up came off the window and got jammed up in the motor. The Haynes manual I have has nothing on this so all we could do at the time was push it up and use a pair of vicegrips to clamp on underneath the window to hold it up and keep it from just falling down. Anyone know how to get the wire connected back to the window? The motor works just fine and the wire is in decent shape despite the jamming. Our real problem right now is getting the wire back in place so I can roll my window up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. I can't help but I suggest just taking to a place that repairs auto glass. They know more about doing something like that then anyone.

I was hoping to avoid taking it somewhere, but I suppose that probably is the best course of action seeing as how the place the wire needs to be reconnected is rather hard to get to and neither I nor my step-dad have any idea how we're gonna get it back in place. I just prefer to fix things myself if I can.

I agree we should always check the wires, wire are very exposed to heat from the motor, over heated wires can be shorted. I got similar problem with my window motor
