Idle Rough When A/C Turns On??

When I turn on my A/c it seems to idle a bit rougher and hesitates when I step on the gas. I have a 2003 with 96K miles on it. What can I do to fix this??

Man, when it's cold in FL (winter time, below 60 outside), and I'm standing stationary, with the engine and AC on, there's smoke coming out of my AC!

At first I freaked out like crazy!
But then I remembered that sometimes the same thing happens in airplanes, where the smoke is just a cooled semi condensed water cloud.

I have no issues with my AC/engine @ idle though. Works fine, except for on hot summerdays where it barely is able to keep up!

I tested everything and it is the fan. Does this mean the fan does not work at all or just the high speed? I have to drive it about 500 miles on a trip but will not use the A/C. Should I be worried???

Probably you'll be OK. Keep an eye on the coolant temperature. Bear in mind that the defroster-defogger will also turn on the air conditioner. You should be OK with that running when at road speeds.

Where do you live to use the air conditioning in Winter? OK, I admit it. I use it here, sometimes in what we call Winter.
