Default Front End Shake

Why would my front end skake? I had a alignment and it was a lot better but it did not last long. The rims are not bent. checked that myself.

What speed does this happen? Is it only when you apply the brakes? Does it happen all the time? Need a bit more info.

Under inflated tires will cause a shake. The stock Goodyear tires that PT's come with are crap and will shake. When my 02' was new I had that problem but it went away as soon as I went to premium tires. I recently bought a 2009 that still has the factory Goodyear tires on it and have the same shaking problem as the 02'. Still too much tread left to change them out so I'll will live with it for a while.

It starts to kick in at around 5mph and the faster you go the worse it gets. The brakes have no effect. You can really feel it in the steering wheel at highway speed.

Well, you said you checked the wheels and they are not bent? It sure sounds like at least one IS bent; The only other thing I can think of, this actually happened on a car I had, the steel belts "twisted" right in the tire, after a few wks the other 3 tires did the same thing...turns out there was a run of bad tires, this was a long time ago, but, it was just as you describe. If you can, jack up one wheel at a time and spin the wheel, watch the tread..see if it goes off center.

It could be as simple as the tires/wheels needing to be balanced. This will cause your steering wheel to shake.

It's possible, but, that usually doesn't happen @ 5 mph It almost sounds more like a wobble if it's happening at that speed.
