Default new owner! 2005 touring ed. seatbelt question

got a great deal on an 05 . just had it a couple days so im sure ill be on here ALOT

first question:

seatbelts!

when i put my seatbelt on the lap portion stayed tight but the chest cross portion does not. i am able to move forward freely but when i want to lift my butt up to adjust i have to take my seat belt off and put it back on.

Congrats and welcome!

Both my current PT GT and my old Turbo Miata MX-5 did that so I guess it's normal.

CONGRAT'S

and as for the seat belt, i don't think it's normal. Sometimes i can't even pull the belt to buckle it. it catches when i pull it to hard.

Your seat belt is normal, there is a counterweight that in case of a accident swings and locks the belt. Try hitting the brakes and leaning forward, you will see that it tightens.

thanks all for the reply!

normal huh??? im gonna have to somehow fix that. i know they have a safety device that locks up the whole seat belt when needed but its really uncomfortable to have the lap portion ALWAYS locked.

hmm.... maybe ill take it to the dealership and see what they can do.
