Lightbulb ignition questions

ok i had a post in the tech area about 05 pt not starting that ended up not having voltage on the ignition to starter ( little wire on starter)

i checked everything brake/trans axle shift solenoid, park/neutral safety switch, shift linkage, so on and so on...

i get to the ignition switch and pow found the problem..
ok in the process of pulling the ignition switch you pull the key cylinder and the pull switch. and i see a little silver piece fall in floorboard

here is my problem: ok key on right side of wheel switch on left the piece that connects the key and the switch has one side of the "shaft?" is broken off and the old switch will not turn so i found the problem now how do i get to that piece to replace and what would it be called so i can order one or is this a junkyard part??

ok see my book doesn't have that pic. i guess i got the stupid book
looking at that pic and at mine it appears to be a little box that may let me get to that "shaft" but it is screwed in with what looks like a star torx head with a pin in the middle never seen that before i defiantly don't have one

it's called a "security" or tamper-proof head torx. i had to get a set for my iac valve on another car. it's a torx head with a small hole in the center.
you should be able to get it in either an auto parts store or even home improvement store. they're pretty inexpensive.

Talking Re: ignition questions

looking at the online parts manual shows me nothing for that shaft in between the key cylinder and the ignition switch so don't know what to do about this maybe.. and don't ban me for saying this out loud.. give the stealership a call

without a picture of the actual silver piece that fell out and the cylinder next to it, we're blind here. i'm thinking maybe the silver piece might be part of the tumblers, but without a photo, your guess is as good as mine.

its not part of the lock its on the other side i can see where it broke off it is that "shaft" in the pic above but just labeled "shaft" i just called the local stealership and the parts dept. said he doesn't see anything like what im talking about in the parts catalog under ignition or in the column page ...but then again who knows who answered the phone

ill get a pic of the area when i get back home and post it

Smile Re: ignition questions

ok i have sorta hit a wall i now know that this part is called a " ignition switch actuator pin assembly" and i have also found that you cannot get this from dealer with out buying the whole column...

but i now know that dorman makes one part #924-704 but with my unlucky self it will have to be ordered seeing how no one in the state of Arkansas has one so another day or two wait
but maybe my 3 days of research will help someone else
