Default Rear Defroster

My rear defroster mysteriously quit working, the heated mirrors are working fine. I checked the manual and can not find where the fuse for the rear defroster is.

2002 limited automatic.

Fuse #8 (40 amp green fuse) in the PDC (even though it's not marked for it) is part of that circut.

i got the above from a thread in november of last year. don't know if it solved his problem as he never responded after the fact. he also stated his heated mirrors were working.

I just checked and fuse 8 controls both the rear defogger and the mirror defoggers. So if it blows both will quit working. There is a seperate fuse for the mirrors, but it is after the switch, so if it blows the the rear defogger will still work but the mirrors will not. A fuse cannot cause the rear defogger to not work, but the mirrors to still work, but it is possible for a fuse to cause the rear defogger to work but not the mirrors. The only thing that could cause the situation he describes is for the rear defogger element to go bad or to be scratched...or the ground to be bad for the rear defogger.

Mine had the same problem. All fuses were good. Pulled off the trim pieces around top and edges of the back window . . . Presto, the right side contact had come off the metal film. Did a tiny dab of hot glue and some duct tape to hold it while the glue set.
