Default Does the onboard nav on '05 Gt require subscription

I am thinking about buying an '05 GT LE. It has an on board nav system. Does anyone know if this requires a subscription service to work? Thanks.

It shouldn't need a subscription to work, but the program that it is using is probably 6 to 8 years old with thousands of street changes it doesn't know about. A new chip/card/program to update it can run anywhere from (taking a guess here) $50 to $150.

If it is the factory Chrysler nav system it comes with a CD that must be in the unit for it to work. New updated disk cost $200. Not sure it is worth upgrading. BUT the factory system works quite well.

when i got mine pt from the dealer, the sales lady was pretty new, i wanted to get this hyndai sanata that had a nav in it. she told me to walk around the car and tell her i wanted the bumper fixed and the nav upgraded with the new maps as part of the pricing deal infront of her boss so they didnt know she told me that. if your getting it from the dealer i think they may be able to throw that in with out much extra cost if any at all.
