Default Stealer not Dealer

I recently was driving to work and my car began to squeak in the engine compartment. I figured it was cold weather but took it to a Chrysler dealer for other purposes. They tell me that my high pressure line for the power steering pump is leaking, I did not have part replaced. The next day the serpentine belt for the power steering pump mysteriously pops off while driving to work. (Note: I had no issues with steering at all prior to taking it to the dealer.)

I was forced to drop my PT off at the Chrysler dealer by my work to have them put the belt back on. They tell me that the pump itself is now leaking not the line, just a day after being in another Chrysler dealer not 20 miles away. I once again do not have them replace the pump and go form there. The car squeaked for about a week as I was planning on doing the pump replacement myself.

2 days ago the belts start squeaking very badly, I take it to a local mechanic and he tells me simply, that the serpentine belt needed adjusted properly and there are no leaks at all. He adjusted them free of charge and no more squeaking.

This just goes to show how the dealer will try anything to rip you off.

Yes, I would stick with that mechanic as was just said but I'm wondering what kind of adjustments he did as the belt tensioner is supposed to do the adjustment for you.

He definitely will be the only one I go to from now on.

I am not totally certain what he did to adjust the belt. All he mentioned was the belt was not aligned properly. Belts on cars are one thing I do not mess around with so I have no knowledge on how these work.
