Default 2007 Cruiser with 33,719 miles on....already has an oil leak???

Hey guys!

Went for an oil change today...the guy comes back saying "you got an oil leak coming from the oil pan." Guy told me it was unusual to see on such a low mileage car. I was right on time for this dang oil change too (3,000 miles) and he said that my oil was super low and had hardly any coolant in it! Where is all my fluids going?!?!?!

I'm thinking the OP meant that the mechanic also checked the coolant and that it too was low.

Well most people will check the oil level on the dipstick periodically and especially before they have the oil changed to monitor oil consumption. My wife even knows to check the stick once a week.

If they want to know where the oil is going, ahh all leaks are visual unless it is burning it. Time to crawl under and take a peak.

Per the coolant, another fluid to take a peak at.

If they are loosing both, time to have the cooling system pressure checked to see if they have a problem, ie maybe head gasket.

Yea my dad told me tonight that i should every now and then check the oil levels myself, and if they seem low, to just add oil. i just feel like my PT is "over consuming" gas, oil, and coolant. :/ humph

Mine was leaking oil at 45,000 miles. It turned out to be the oil pressure sensor which I gather is rather common. It was a cheap and easy fix thank goodness.

If you have time to kill, pickup your ownwer's manual and read through it.
I, Mr. 'know it all', actually did and learned something.

It's hard to determine where a leak is coming from when most of don't
know the name of components, letalone be able to see them.

This could happen at any time; but...
My wife was taking her van (she just traded -got a Honda '10 CR-V) to Jiffy Lube for the oil change. Every time, they'd mention an oil leak; and every time after she got home, I'd get underneath and tighten the bolts on the pan and the oil plug - no more leaks (until next oil change). With the new vehicle, that should not be happening.

My Cruiser is at 66k, no leaks, as of now.

My beloved 16yo Neon, with 289k doesn't have leaks (There's blow-by
4-sure) but no external leaks.
It was a pretty solid engine.

Anything, as Mr. Garner pointed out, can happen.

My friend was upset because her new Mini's O2 sensor woofed off-
well, it runs in the exhaust and that's kinda tough environment, for that
I'd definitely forgive them!
