does the head unit still work? can you still listen to the radio, play cd's or cassets? if so then maybe there's a light out with in the unit.

If the radio still works when the display is out, try this..................

If you have a key that is newer or in better shape, try it,

I had that happen to me and I used a new key and it hasn't happened since.

If you don't have that symptom, never mind

yeah the radio still plays and everything, the display only works when the key is on accessories but not when the car is on, but my dad is going to open it up for me and take a look at it

My kid has had a lot of issues with her radio too .... usually hers are CD related, it was working when she took me for a ride to dinner last night. When I saw you were from Louisiana I thought you might be her ... but then mentioned your dad will take it apart and I made no such promise.

Lots of problems with the wiring harness running down the steering column. The wires get stretched or pinched or they pull on the connections when the wheel is adjusted. Most of the time it affects the radio but have seen where it has made problems with other components that use the same wiring harness.
