Default TURBO or N/A ?

Hello Guys

This is cold be a stupid question but I want to know your expertise with TURBO model.

I'm getting 17 mpg on City (2007 Base Model), I've been doing a lot of repair after bought this car 1 year ago, [(Radiator Fan, Motor Mounts, Brakes F & R new rotors, Belts, Transmission Fluid (2 times), A/C change, New trunk carpet, Wires and Plug (2 times)] as you see a lot of time and money.

I just saw a 2008 Limited "Beautiful" with around 65,000 miles and I want to know MPG's of this car and possible mechanical problems. I know Achilles talon of those car are the Radiator Fan, Someone experienced any problem.

Thanks,
RedPT07

Both the Turbo and Non-Turbo have about the same quirks. The radiator fan on both models go out at one time or another, the same for the multi-function switch. The gas mileage is all over the place for both cars with most owners getting an average of low 20's.

The steering pump, front suspension bushings, front wheel bearings all have no particular preference to going bad on either modle.

The fans and radiators on the Turbos are different units. You really arent going to see much of a difference in gas mileage NA vs Turbo assuming both Autos.

On my PT GT sticks I get about 25 mpg all around with 75% highway 25% city.

On a 100% Highway get about 30sh. Again with a 5 speed stick.

It sounds like you have done some good maintenance and other than your issue with the motor mounts and fan AC.

I havent had any issues with the fan on my 03 GT but did replace the radiator at 100K miles.

Thank you Crewzin, as always helping PT owner.

I was trying to convince my wife (her car), she told me to get an small SUV that has better mileage than the PT but I was checking and almost going around same mpg's.

Thanks again

I just bought na 06 base convertible, with 4300 miles. I am in the process of rust proofing it and changing all fluids on it.

I have had good luck with my other PT's, nothing to serious and nothing difficult to fix. The only issues I would say are problems are the LCA bushing, some get Front wheel bearing problems and some the fans. The rest of the car seems really good if one keeps them maintained.

This new one will be my first auto so I will see how that works out but I intend to change the fluid and filter on it. I want to drive it a bit to confirm it has no issues and then I will drop the pan and change the fluid. Already have the mopar filter and fluid.

An 06 with just 4,300 miles...!!!

That is awesome, almost new.

Talking about maintenance, mine has a problem when I'm driving between 50-55 there is a bumping at the front axle, there is like out of balance tires, I did balancing and continue, probably is the quality of tires "Hercules" branded.

Good luck with your new PT.

Previously I was talking about bumping or shaking between 50-55 and I found an article in reference to changing bushing for Urethane, that could be the solution to my problem.

Go to Rock auto.com and buy the moog lower control arms. Also would buy the inner cushions for the sway bar and the outer links. That should square away any issues in the front suspension
