Default Now I get to ask a question!

Found two items broken on my PT that were missed when they did the crash estimate, and need to get them fixed but wanted to see if anyone knows anything about them. I'm sure one will be easy, the other???

2006 PT Cruiser GT Convertible, loaded... first issue - friggin washer nozzle broke off, leaving the nipple in the hose, making it totally useless, and sprays under the hood making a friggin blue mess! I bought some really nice adjustable spray nozzles, but have never removed mine before. Anyone have some instructions on removing the washer nozzles off the hood??? Gotta get both, and looks like they are covered by that hood liner, and I've never had that off so really not sure how to remove it without making a big mess. Suggestions???

Second - my driver's seat has the powered adjustments in a plastic panel on the left side of the seat facing the door. That seems to have broken off, when you pull on it with barely any tension it opens up and you can see that several of the retaining tabs are broken off, with only the bottom one holding it in place. Anyone have a suggestion on removing this panel, and any suggestions on replacing it? Probably going to end up back at the body shop since they missed it, but if the insurance won't cover it I'm gonna have to fix it. When I get out of the car the thing likes to grab the back of my left leg, and being in a vert, I'm in shorts most of the time and it's getting really aggravating. Suggestions??

In advance, thank you for any and all advice, even from those of you who will most assuredly be busting my chops for finally asking for help here....lmao....

Chrome, didn't you download that Shop Manual that was on the forum a while back? Surely, it has the info you need.

according to e-how, there's 2 philips screws holding the power seat switch to the panel. as far as the washer nozzles, never done them but it shouldn't be too difficult. the retaining clips for the "blanket" on the underside of the hood, i've heard, should be replaced so they hold the "blanket" securely.

wish i could be of more help.

I know nothing about the seat; the under hood blanket (for fire and noise) is held on by those funny plastic clips. They can be pried out very carefully and re-used. They have rows of little teeth that grab the sides of the hole and if not careful, the little teeth break off and the clip can't be used again. You'll see what I mean after you get the first one out. You can buy a whole bag of them (about 12 in a bag) from the dealer, pretty cheap or I've seen them at hardware stores.

Lots of Turbo owners have reported that the nozzles break off after awhile from the heat that's put out from the Turbo motor. Even the blanket doesn't stop the heat from getting to the nozzles and making them brittle enough to break off.

Get some aftermarket LED washer nozzles - the base is often metal - you don't have to hook up the LEDs.

that's what i did. And CREWZIN was right about the nozzles falling apart. mine actually broke, so i had to crush the stem that was stuck in the rubber elbow just to get out all of the plastic from the nozzle.
Quicksilver is right about the led nozzles too. the studs were metal and so were the nuts that helped secure them to the hood.

Just replace the driver side nozzle with OEM. A pair of needle nose pliers, grip the sides of the nozzle (without removing the blanket) and lift the nozzle.

Side panel on seat: at dealer $103, I paid they took off the pieces and installed it. I breaks because of putting weight on the top edge of it. The dealer said they replace about 1 a week.

I got my nozzles @ advanced auto parts, they have worked perfectly, my OEB broke off in the hose and i used a small flathead and got it out. Since then no issues.

Call your adjuster and or insurance and point out that those were missed and need to be corrected. Talk to the body shop, they should help you out too.

Mine broke a couple of days after I got the car, put it in for warranty work. When the mechanic went to park it, he broke it!!! My dealer said they were sending an email to Chrysler about it breaking so easy. Never heard anything more about it. Never had a problem with the 07 though
