Default DLR's turn off

A friend of mine has an '08 PT. She said that when she uses the turn signals the daytime running lights go off. I probably already know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway. She needs a new multifunction switch, right? Is this something AutoZone or Advanced Auto would sell? Thanks, Frank

Frank,

Are you sure they are from the factory. I don't think any PT's in the USA came with DRL's which mean they are aftermarket and whoever wired them up could have wired it up wrong.

OK, that settles that. Never heard of any of the owners talk about them. Must be something they added. Thanks.

Frank, still sounds like they are wired wrong, but if your friend had them from the factory in 2008 might very well be the MFS. If he did add them aftermarket, then I stick with what I said first.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I haven't looked at it myself. I'm just going by what she told me. I'll get a look at it on Monday.

Actually Frank, one more thing. If the turn signal bulbs are the ones being used as the DRL's, maybe they ARE supposed to turn off when the turn signals are activated since they're on the same circuit and then they would be working like they should.

You got it CREWZIN.I just checked mine, when you turn the signal on that headlight goes out.I never noticed before since the drl's are not on at night.

now is it the low beam or the high beam that's the drl. I saw a pt yesterday, during the day time, that had their high beams on. i know it was a 2nd gen but then i was wondering if tho's were drl's or they just turned on the high beams.

dlr are connected to the high beam but I don't think they have full intensity. Most newer Chrysler car the head light will go out on the side that your flasher is on. My son has a 2010 Grand caravan and it does the same.I don't know how far back they started that.
