Lightbulb dimmer switch question

hey everyone,
i have a quick question. i recently discovered this feature on my pt. I don't know why i never knew about it, but anyways, i clicked the dimmer switch on the turn signal stalk a click too far forward and the interior dome light came on. i clicked it back and it turned off. I know that the dome light dims after 20 minutes or so if your door isn't shut to prevent battery drainage, but will the light remain on if the stalk is turned all the way?

thanks,
-hayden

I think it does stay on and WILL drain the battery.

From the owner's manual (2004)

"Rotate the dimmer control completely
upward to the second detent to turn
on the interior lights. The interior
lights will remain on when the dimmer
control is in this position. With the
ignition key in the OFF position, the
interior lights will automatically turn
off in about 8 minutes if the dimmer
control is left in the Dome light position"

Yep, I've left mine on many times. Same with your trunk light, it will turn off after 8 minutes too.

That's a good little courtesy feature to have.

I've tried it to see if it would stay on. It seemed like it was going to stay on so I gave up waiting for the light to go off by itself. Guess I didn't wait long enough. 8 minutes is a long time.

I had one vehicle were the courtesy lights would stay on for 20 mins withoit draining the battery. A coworkers Charger has a feature that keeps the running lights on after you get out of the vehicle, they stay on so long people would constantly come in telling him he left his lights on.

Mine does that too, part of the remote system I think. I know it's programmable on my PT, up to 90 seconds when unlocking and/or locking my PT. Love that feature!
