I had 121k miles on my wife's 01 N/A and the belt looked good....only one of the pulleys bearing was getting bad and noisy

Thumbs down Re: Wh has 150K + Miles for sure on Origional Timing Belt?

Just when the timing couldn't be any worst....middle of the desert; 120 degrees; no cell phone service; must be "there" in a few hours....!

I'm betting a lot of cruisers have made it over 150k on the first belt, but I won't bet with my PT she will be done right before she rolls over 100k

When I first started driving four bangers, I didn't know jack poop about timing belts and ran four different cars almost to 200k and than sold them without ever doing the belt. My Camry was supposed to be done at 60k so I missed it by a little. I also had two Gran Am's that were due at 60k also. And I had a Honda that was due at 60k. I had no clue I always drove v-6 and v-8 motors. Also before my PT and after the muscle car days passed in my youth I never followed any scheduled maintenance except oil changes. I had old cars and when it broke I fixed it. Your most likely right that the majority will fall between 100k and 125k but I bet a lot but not most have made it to 150k.

My dayghtrs Chevy is a 98 malibu and it was missing it has almost 170,000 on it so i fuigured timing belt and tune up well tune up was semi ok but it has a CHAIN and the PARTS alone were like $375 and the labor was almost as much as aa PT so given it was

too many miles
to much expense
they traded it off andf got something else
