Default Adding Factory Options & Computer?

Good day,

I have posted previously regarding adding oem factory options to my 05 NA base cruiser. I have decided to add the driving lights and cruise control. Someone mentioned in a previous post about having the computer reflashed. Not being well versed in what that is, can someone please enlighten me as to if that is necessary when installing the options I am considering and what something like that might cost? I have a sickening feeling that if it is a dealer install it will be quite expensive. Would it be in my best interest to have both installed prior to the computer work so if the computer must be reset, they can both be done at the same time or are they different computer upgrades?

Thanks in Advance for any advice.

RJ

The computer reflasing is necessary for installing cruise control on your car and it will need to be done by the dealer. If you are comfortable doing the install that would save you a lot of money.

you do not have to do anything extra to install cruise control. i have a base 2005 pt and got a oem cruise from auto truck toys and installed it myself, it wasceasy as the wiring is already on the car. once finished i did not have to get the computer done. i just started driving and enjoyed the cruise. jim hoysa

The driving lights will have to be programmed by the dealer OR a high end garge that has a starscan tool ($7K and up) Its not a flash but they simply toggle the fog light option to on.

I had to explain the procedure to my dealer as they wanted $125 to do 5 minutes work. They said if it was only a few minutes like i showed them on the paper, then they would only charge $30....guess what i paid

I thought the 01-05 series did not need reflashing, that it's just plug and play. I added fogs to my 04 base and did not need to reflash.
