Sounds like the dealer didn't use the rest of the money to add another year after Sept 11 and that's why you got the refund.

In Manitoba this is how they work it. Your plates expire 4 mths after your birthday. My birthday is in Dec so I have an April expiration. When I bought my PT in Dec my plate was good til April, then in April I got the full year. This year we are changing to 5 year plates so people are getting various expiry dates from 1 to 5 years. Not sure what it is based on as to how long your plate is good for. But eventually everyone will have 5 year registration

Sort of. In Manitoba your plates belong to you, not the car. You get a plate and a sticker with the month and year of expiration. So if you were trading in for a new car you would just take your plate, put it on the new car and tell the insurance company in case the new car costs more (or less). The stickers show your insured and go on your rear plate so it's easy for the police to see

Texas changed some years back. When you buy a car they Reg you as the owner and you pay the partial registration for that time till the current Reg goes out. Then you have to pay for the full year when it expires. They use to issue you a full year when you bought the car but figured it was more profitable for the new buyer to pay for the current reg from where it was when they purchased the car.

I had similar with my wife's van, bought it and the tags expired in three months. Went back to Dealer and they did all the inspections for free then gave me a check to do the renewal myself. Worked out fine. On my new car, when I bought my PT, the tags were good for two years the day I bought it.

What the heck?

Also got a check from the dealer for 95 dollars.

Memo says SD TTL Refund.

Why do I get a 3 month registration.

I looked on their website and didnt find anything
