Default what should I do. now with a poll.

heres the scoop, I took my 03 base PT in for state inspection and it failed big time. heres the list

tires at min. that I knew.
defective steering linkage. needs new tie rod ends
both front wheel bearing.
control arm bushings both sides
rocker panals rusted out needs to be repaired with new metal welded in.
motor mount bolt, the big one you get at thru the wheel well. it broke on the way there and its not the first time it broke I carry spares grade 12.8 bolts for it

cost with out tires 1200.

heres the deal with the car. it was a POS my EX son inlaw gave my step daughter after he let her minivan get repoed. it had a bad motor I gave her my van so she could be able to haul the grandkids around, theres 5 total. the car has some dents and a little rust mainly the rocker. the dents are the 2 rear corners were caved in and pounded back out. some what. the AC no longed works and the newer engine needs some minor tweeking. it has 160,000 on the car and the motor is a 06 with about 60,000 but is burning a little oil till it warns up.interior is in good shape drivers side carpet is worn though were your heal rest at the gas pedal.
no my question is should I put the money into it which I really cant afford very well.
or
I saw a base 05 convert. silver black top 85k. 5 speed one small dent. thay want 6000 for it or 75 bucks a week for 145 weeks at a buy here pay here place.
or
they also have a 06 LE gold NA auto 95k for 6500 or 75 a week for 160 weeks
I know ingoing to pay thru the nose at the buy here pay here.
which way would you go?

ROCK <-> HARDPLACE

Your between those two. Both PTs at the Buy Here, Pay Here place are so cose to the 100,000 mile mark that you might as well consider needing a new timing belt right away at a cost of about $1000. If you can talk the place into changing the belt, either one would be better than what you have, IF they are certified and can pass inspection.

Like Crewzin said both those cars are due for timing belts and water pumps at 100k and it's a big job between on average 800-1200 bucks. Maybe you can get them to come down on the price somewhat.

Fix what you have, at least you know what's wrong with it and drive it to the ground. *Change the timing belt before 100k though.

No telling what will be wrong with another used car.
