Angry Removing plastic grill in front of inter cooler

Is there any way to remove the plastic grill covering the I/C without removing the front bumper ?????

Wouldn't It be more cost effective to get a license plate that said (I HAVE A INTERCOLLER) cause it wont go any faster with a gaping hole in the bumper.

Here's my question - why on earth do you want to remove that cover? If you are not planning on putting some kind of rock screen over that opening, you're asking for a disaster to happen. All you need is ONE ROCK, and that's it for your system. Repairing a punctured FMIC is a total B-word squared! Believe me, we're talking the 'voice of experience' here.

Look at my front end - the FMIC I have here is Stage 2, the reason is that getting a factory/OEM standard FMIC for an '06 is beyond difficult. Now you can do what I did - remove that and put some hardened aluminum screening over it, but whatever you do if you don't protect that IC you're asking for serious sh*t to happen.

The picture in my sig block shows my stage 2 FMIC. You don't really see the wire screen cover, because it's painted black. It's riveted in place, and barely noticeable. If you look carefully, between the driving lights and the IC opening, you'll see two verticle rivets, that holds it in place. I could tell you exactly how to do this to protect your factory IC, and it will save you literally hundreds of dollars in repairs should you ever get a rock or other FOD in your IC.

Ya but I don't see a gaping hole on that ride. I have TWO INTERCOOLERS also but no hacked up bumpers to show em.

But have to tell ya, really love those wheels on the black one! First time I seen these on a cruiser. Exactly as I had imagined except in my minds eye they were on mine.

They can be color matched to my PTs with no problems! lol
Besides black and orange go good together. Ya I can see it now.
Oh well back to reality.

Talking Re: Removing plastic grill in front of inter cooler

I was thinking the same as the OP. Don't know his purpose for wanting to do it but I was looking into replacing it with a custom grille after robbing the bank./ Just joking CREWZIN and FBI haha.

I have noticed that alot of the SRT-4 Neons are replacing their intercoolers.

I assume they are going larger.

Is that something we are limited to do due to space?

Does it do that much to Hp/Tq?

Oh and alot of them have the Intercoolers exposed

And yes I know this thread is a couple of months old, thank you!
