Default car jumped out of time

last week i posted about my car not firing..anyways the garage i took it to says it appears that it jumped out of time, and told me it would cost around $300.00 to get it back in time, providing that there isnt anything else wrong with it,seems kind of odd since i had a new timing belt and tensioner put on it last summer..

If that IS your problem, 300 isn't bad for all the work they have to do but I'd ask for some sort of guarantee that once they do all that work your PT will be up and running. Not like some of the dealers that say "this" is your problem, they do the work and you still have the same problem you went in with.

Crewzin is right on that $300 isn't bad, I'd guess they're not replacing the
water pump, tensioner, and idlers for that, and they have no idea how long
and frustrating the job is on this vehicle.

IF they do do all this for $300, I'd bring them all a rack of top-shelf beer, and give them all a smack on top of it!

Sounds like a deal to me!!
Most charge $1000 and up for the belt change.

It was my understanding that the flat rate for that on a PT was 8hr. So if they stick to the estimate, its real cheep.

A new belt will stretch a little as it seats. If It's not self adj. you have to compensate for that. Or idler bolt not tight enough. Let us know what find.
